Inspiring Women in Huron Award

Do you know any inspiring women in Huron County?  This award celebrates the everyday woman who gives to her workplace, her family and her community. The unsung heroes that are often left unrecognized because they don’t seek out attention or reward, they just ‘do’.  If you know an inspiring woman in Huron County, you can nominate them for the 3rd annual Inspiring Women in Huron Award. Nomination deadline is January 29, 2016. The Award will be presented in Goderich on March 4.

South Huron Exhibition Opening @Ironwood GC Pictures

The South Huron Exhibition opened at Ironwood Golf Club Friday night. The evening was well-attended with the crowd enjoying the wide variety of art pieces by local artists as well as some fantastic refreshments by the talented folks at Ironwood.

Three major awards were given out by Exhibition Juror Dr. Matthew Ryan Smith – a freelance writer, independent curator and sessional professor at The University of Toronto (Mississauga):

  • First Place went to Elizabeth Carr for her cropped image in watercolours called  “Leeboard” of a flat-bottomed kind of sailboat popular in tidal countries such as Holland.
  • First Runner-up went to Michelle Miller for her charming oil on wood painting of a cat called “Portait of Snowy, in the Studio”
  • Second Runner-up went to Alec Moore for his “Cast of Characters” photograph of a Grand Bend street scene at night

The Exibition runs daily from 11:00am to 5:00pm October 31 through to November 7 and Sunday, November 8 from 11:00am to 2:00pm.

2015 South Huron Juried Exhibition & Sale @ Ironwood Golf Club

Art aRound Town is excited to be hosting their fourth annual art show and sale from October 31 to November 8 at the Ironwood Golf Club, 70969 Morrison Line, Exeter and will feature an artisan market, photography and lantern-making workshops as well as a family Halloween party

From our Press Release:  Catherine Weber, a member of Art aRound Town says, we are proud to showcase the work of regional and local professional artists which include sculptures, mosaics and many paintings.

The workshops and Halloween party are an addition to the traditional Art Show and new this year. The workshops are presented in partnership with the Huron Arts and Heritage Network. Our Halloween party includes face painting, crafts, games and story-telling on October 31 from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Families and children are invited to dress up and have fun.

With the Christmas shopping season approaching, we offer our artisan market for stocking stuffers, such us pottery, jewelry, cards and much more. This is at the Ironwood Golf Club on November 4 to November 6 from 11 am to 5 pm.
