The South Huron Exhibition opened at Ironwood Golf Club Friday night. The evening was well-attended with the crowd enjoying the wide variety of art pieces by local artists as well as some fantastic refreshments by the talented folks at Ironwood.
Three major awards were given out by Exhibition Juror Dr. Matthew Ryan Smith – a freelance writer, independent curator and sessional professor at The University of Toronto (Mississauga):
First Place went to Elizabeth Carr for her cropped image in watercolours called “Leeboard” of a flat-bottomed kind of sailboat popular in tidal countries such as Holland.
First Runner-up went to Michelle Miller for her charming oil on wood painting of a cat called “Portait of Snowy, in the Studio”
Second Runner-up went to Alec Moore for his “Cast of Characters” photograph of a Grand Bend street scene at night
The Exibition runs daily from 11:00am to 5:00pm October 31 through to November 7 and Sunday, November 8 from 11:00am to 2:00pm.
